While, I don’t consider myself a member of the Tea Party, I certainly agree with most of their principles. With that in mind, I feel the need to help.
You may not have been told but 100% of tax except status applications from groups labeled with Tea Party were flagged while virtually none with the name progressive were flagged. This should not come as any surprise at this point. The IRS has an incentive to want anti-tax protesters to suffer. Despite the controversy, they will continue to work against your efforts of reigning in government every step of the way.
If you’re planning on starting a Tea Party organization, to get fair treatment, you might want to consider renaming your organization to something like, “The Progressive Americans That Support Fair Taxation.” In retrospect, the word “Fair” might scare the IRS. Perhaps you should name yourselves, “The Progressive Americans That Support The IRS.” Yes, with a broad but pro-sounding IRS name like that, you’re sure not to get flagged.
After the renaming, feel free to work on anti-IRS objectives because the IRS obviously doesn’t care about actually researching the organizations it judges.
Some might mistake that for a lie. It’s not a lie. It’s politics.
If you ever decide that you’re sick of the politics, feel free to check out some more of my writing. If you’re a member of the Tea Party then you probably already understand most of what this blog writes about instinctively.
